Aniline red or basic fuchsine, also called fuchsine and diamond foxes (Basic Violet 14), is the hydrogen chloride compound of rosaniline, which is a green powder. This slowly dissolves in water and ethanol with an intense red color and belongs to the group of triphenylmethane dyes.
